Wirksworth, Derbyshire
Two bedrooms, a patio garden, and the Peak District on your doorstep. Dogs very welcome.
The Cottage
The Cosy Cottage on The Dale sits on one of Wirksworth's oldest and most characterful streets, just a short walk from the independent shops, pubs and restaurants that make this town one of the Peak District's best-kept secrets.
With two bedrooms sleeping up to four people, a rare in-town patio garden, and a genuinely dog-friendly setup, it's the kind of place you'll want to come back to.
Whether you're here for the walking, the food, a long weekend away, or a few days working remotely somewhere inspiring — The Cosy Cottage on The Dale is set up for all of it.
What's Included
Well-behaved dogs are genuinely welcome. The patio garden is perfect for them, and Wirksworth has brilliant dog walks straight from the door.
A private outdoor space — rare for a cottage this close to the town centre. Perfect for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
Sleeps up to four guests comfortably. Ideal for two couples, a family, or friends exploring the Peaks together.
Reliable broadband throughout. Perfect for a "workcation" — spend your days in the Peaks and stay connected when you need to.
Wirksworth is at the southern edge of the Peak District. Walk straight out of the door onto trails, or drive to Dovedale, Monsal Trail, and beyond in minutes.
Independent pubs, restaurants, a boutique cinema, a farmers' market and artisan shops — all within a 5 minute walk. Wirksworth is that kind of town.
Gallery
Downstairs features a comfortable open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The living area includes a comfy sofa, a dining table, and a wood-burning stove. A collection of board games can be found in the cupboards.
Alongside the living space is a well-equipped kitchen including an electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, toaster and kettle. The kitchen leads out to a private patio garden where you can enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.
Upstairs there is a peaceful master bedroom with a king-sized bed, fitted wardrobes, and a dressing table. The second bedroom features a small double bed (120cm wide) — comfortable for single occupancy or two children; some guests may find it more comfortable for single adult use.
The compact bathroom offers a shower, hand wash basin and toilet. Please note the shower is smaller than standard (700mm diameter). As with most cottages in the local area the staircase is steep, so the cottage may not be suitable for people with mobility issues.
Guests have full access to the entire cottage, including the private garden. Free parking is available directly outside the property if free, or slightly up the lane on the right-hand side.
The Location
Wirksworth sits on the southern edge of the Peak District — an ancient market town full of character, with independent shops, great pubs and restaurants, and a boutique cinema. It's the kind of place people discover by accident and then come back to on purpose.
For walkers, it's ideal. Trails start right from the door, and the wider Peak District — Dovedale, Monsal Trail, Chatsworth, Bakewell — is all within easy reach.
